Call for Papers
The editorial board of the journal Balcanica welcomes submissions for the next issue, LVII (2026).
Balcanica is the annual, peer-reviewed journal of the Institute for Balkan Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The journal follows a diamond open access model and it is indexed in prominent international databases, such as Clarivate’s Web of Science (Emerging Sources Citation Index – ESCI), DOAJ, and CEEOL.
We invite papers from all humanities disciplines, such as archaeology, anthropology, ethnography, history, classical studies, art history, linguistics, literature, law, migration studies, and religious studies. Submissions may focus on a single Balkan country, a group of countries, or the region in its entirety. Interdisciplinary approaches are particularly encouraged.
If you wish to contribute to the next issue of our journal, you are kindly required to submit your paper (maximum 10,000 words) alongside a concise abstract (maximum 300 words) and 5-10 keywords, or your review (maximum 2,000 words), to the e-mail address balcanica@bi.sanu.ac.rs, by May 4, 2026.
