Archiving and Digital Preservation

Balcanica ensures the long-term preservation and accessibility of its content through multiple archiving and indexing services that guarantee the reliability, accessibility, and scholarly integrity of the journal’s content in the long term:

• All published content is archived in the DAIS (Digital Archive of the Institute for Balkan Studies), a repository compliant with the CoreTrustSeal.

• The journal is integrated with DOI Serbia and CrossRef, providing persistent identifiers (DOIs) for each article.

• The Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform supports OAI-PMH protocols for metadata harvesting.

• Additional preservation strategies include backup storage, mirrored content, and cooperation with trusted digital repositories.

Indexing & Archiving

• Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI, Web of Science):
  Balcanica is indexed in ESCI, enhancing its visibility within the Web of Science Core Collection.

• Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ):
  Balcanica is listed with both its print and online ISSNs (0350‑7653 & 2406‑0801) and carries the DOAJ seal of approval. 

• Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL):
  Balcanica is fully indexed in CEEOL as an important East & Southeast Europe humanities journal.
  

• Digital Archive of the Institute for Balkan Studies (DAIS):
  All issues are archived in the DAIS repository, ensuring long-term digital preservation.
