Abstract

The importance of the economic and demographic changes in Europe from the onset of the Bronze Age has often been overshadowed by the more obvious events of the Neolithic. A perusal of past syntheses suggests a conservative tendency towards simplistic explanations of the causes of important post-Neolithic developments in prehistoric Europe that is now beginning to lessen.
