Abstract
The text offers a brief review of the Serbian cultural clime and the crucial West-European artistic achievement at the turn of the centuries. It accentuates specific social conditioning of artistic life both on the local level and in highly developed European contries, resulting in a particular parallelism of creative currents. It points out that these facts should be borne in mind when evaluating the Serbian art of the period.Metrics
