Abstract

According to Strabo (VII, 5,11), the Autariatae were the best and largest Illyrian tribe which, at the apex of its power, vanquished the Triballoi and other Illyrian and Thracian tribes. The author discusses the information offered by classical sources and, as others before him, connects them with archaeologically documented groups in the central Balkans, the Glasinac and Zlot groups.
