Abstract
Antesteria were one of the holidays celebrated in honor of the god Donysos – for three days, from 11th to 13th Antesterion (February–March). The first day: tapping into – pithoigia, the second day: Choes – celebration of jugs – competition in drinking, secret sacrifices, the third day: Chitroi – celebration of pots, vegetable sacrifice for the dead. The ethnology of the word Antesteria is not completely reliable. Usually it is connected with the verb anthéo (to blossom).Metrics
