Balkanology, Archaeology and Long-term History

Abstract

The paper deals with the theoretical and methodological correlation between archaeology, Braudel’s structural history and Balkanology. The common denominator and the link between these disciplines is Cvijić’s anthropo-geographical school, and his cultural models, which were the core of the hypothetical and paradigmatic cultural models of Balkan prehistory, confirmed in a number of archaeological projects of the Institute for Balkan Studies.
