Abstract

Tiryns type amber beads have been found on archaeological sites of the Late Bronze Age in the Mediterranean and its hinterland, and are dated to the 12th and 11th century B. C. Infrared spectroscopy proved that those beads are made of Baltic amber, and the distribution of the Tiryns type beads in the Balkans, Italy and Mediterranean sheds new light on the cultural and trade contacts in the prehistoric Europe.
